Medical translation in Dubai and the UAE

Medical documents leave no room for error

A dosage with a misplaced decimal, an allergy lost in translation or a diagnosis described in the wrong terms can change how a patient is treated, delay an insurance claim or hold up a professional licence. Medical translation needs translators who understand clinical language as well as the two languages they work between.

AGATO Translation has provided professional and certified translation in Dubai for more than 20 years. Our medical translators work with the terminology of diagnoses, procedures, pharmacology and laboratory medicine, keep every figure, unit and abbreviation exactly as the original intends, and reproduce the layout so the translation is easy to check against the source.

We translate for patients moving between healthcare systems, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals applying for a licence in the UAE, hospitals and clinics, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, insurers and law firms.

Healthcare licensing in the UAE

Translation for DHA, DOH and MOHAP licensing

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and allied health professionals who want to practise in the UAE apply to the health authority for the emirate where they will work:

  • DHA, the Dubai Health Authority, for Dubai.
  • DOH, the Department of Health, for Abu Dhabi.
  • MOHAP, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, for the other emirates.

Applications include primary source verification of your qualifications, commonly through DataFlow. When your degrees, transcripts, experience certificates, licences or good standing letters are issued in a language other than Arabic or English, they need a certified translation.

We translate and certify these documents in the format authorities expect, keeping names, dates, institutions and registration numbers consistent across every document in your file, so nothing is queried for a spelling mismatch.

Documents we translate for licensing

  • Medical, nursing and pharmacy degrees
  • Academic transcripts and internship certificates
  • Experience and employment certificates
  • Professional licences and registrations
  • Certificates of good standing
  • Specialty board and training certificates

Requirements differ between authorities and change over time. Check the current checklist for your application; we translate and certify documents but do not submit applications.

FAQ

Medical translation questions, answered

Do you provide certified medical translation in Dubai?

Yes. AGATO is a Ministry of Justice certified translation company in Dubai. Certified medical translations are completed by a licensed legal translator, then stamped and signed, which is the form UAE authorities, courts and insurers normally ask for.

Will DHA, DOH or MOHAP accept your medical translations?

Ministry of Justice certified translation is the standard format UAE health authorities request for documents that are not in Arabic or English. Requirements differ between authorities and change from time to time, so always check the current checklist for your application. We translate and certify the documents; we do not submit applications on your behalf.

Which medical documents can you translate?

Medical reports, discharge summaries, laboratory and imaging results, patient records, prescriptions, vaccination records, medical and sick leave certificates, insurance claim reports, medico-legal reports, clinical trial documents, pharmaceutical labels and leaflets, and healthcare licensing documents such as degrees, experience letters and good standing certificates.

How long does medical translation take?

Short documents such as a medical certificate or a one-page report are typically ready in about four hours in common language pairs, when we receive them during office hours (Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm). Most other language pairs are returned within 24 to 48 hours. Long records, rare languages and hard copies take longer, and we confirm the timing with your quote.

How much does medical translation cost?

The price depends on the length of the document, the language pair, whether it needs certification, how urgently you need it and whether you want a stamped hard copy delivered. Upload your document for a free, exact quote.

Can you translate medical reports from Arabic to English and English to Arabic?

Yes, in both directions, and between Arabic or English and more than 120 other languages. Many patients and healthcare professionals in the UAE bring documents in Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, Russian, French, Farsi and other languages.

Is a scan or photo of my document enough?

Usually, yes. A clear scan or photo of every page, including stamps and the back of the document if anything is printed there, is enough for us to quote and translate. If you need a stamped hard copy, we will explain how to collect it or have it delivered.

Is my medical information kept confidential?

Yes. Medical documents are handled only by the linguists working on them, under strict confidentiality, and we sign a non-disclosure agreement on request.

Can you translate medical documents for use in Australia?

Yes. AGATO is the only NAATI certified translation company in the UAE, so we can provide NAATI certified translations for Australian visa, registration and immigration purposes.

Do you also provide medical interpreters?

Yes. For spoken communication with doctors, nurses and patients, see our medical interpretation services in Dubai, on site or by phone and video.
