Professional birth certificate translation in Dubai

More than a piece of paper

Dubai is a global hub, and in a city this multilingual the demand for accurate, certified translation of vital documents keeps increasing. Birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates and driving licences are the documents most often needed, and of these the birth certificate is the one asked for most: for immigration, for academic enrolment and for employment verification.

A birth certificate defines who you are, where you belong and what your legal status is. Dubai’s regulatory framework requires it in translation whenever the original is not in Arabic or English. AGATO provides affordable, accredited translation across Dubai and the UAE, with translators trained to deliver fast, reliable and precise birth certificate translations.

Why it has to be a certified translation

Getting a vital document translated by a certified translator matters because a single mistake has real consequences — a rejected visa file, a delayed enrolment, a hearing adjourned. AGATO’s certified translators hold certification from the Ministry of Justice, and they meet the legal and official requirements that make a translated birth certificate acceptable at an official level.

When you need it

Where a translated birth certificate is required

Birth certificate translation is a prerequisite across many organisations, and it is required by people of every age.

Residency and family visas

Any non-national applying for immigration, a residence visa, or a dependant’s visa needs their vital documents translated in advance.

School and university admission

Admission to a Dubai school or university requires the certificate translated to verify a student’s age and identity.

Passport applications

Applying for or renewing a child’s passport at a consulate in the UAE.

Employment verification

Employers and licensing bodies confirming identity, age and eligibility to work.

Marriage registration

Foreign nationals marrying in Dubai must provide a translated birth certificate so the documents are understood and approved by the authorities.

Inheritance and legal matters

Claiming inheritance, proving parentage, and any other legal matter where the record has to stand.

Our process

How your certificate is handled

A precise, client-centred approach, so the result is accurate, confidential and compliant with the legal requirements.

  1. Initial discussion

We confirm the target language, the purpose of the translation and any legal considerations involved.

  2. Document evaluation

The certificate is examined in full, including the text, the seal, the signature and anything needing special attention.

  3. Translation

A certified translator with deep knowledge of both languages translates every detail: dates, names, places and terminology.

  4. Quality assurance

A second linguist reviews the translation for accuracy and consistency, and any correction is made immediately.

  5. Final delivery

You receive the translation digitally or as a stamped hard copy, whichever you asked for.

Send it however suits you

Drop the certificate at our office on Sheikh Zayed Road, or for urgent needs email it or send it on WhatsApp and we will return the translation within hours. A clear scan or photograph is enough; we only need the original if the receiving authority insists on seeing it.

We apply strict quality and confidentiality measures to vital documents, because a birth certificate carries personal data about a whole family, not only the person named on it.

Names and spelling

The detail that gets certificates rejected

Transliterating a name between Arabic and English has more than one defensible answer. The same name can reasonably be written Mohammed, Mohammad, Muhammad or Mohamed, and a certificate that spells it differently from the passport gives an official a reason to send the file back.

So we ask for the passport spelling with the certificate, and we follow it exactly. The same applies to place names, to a mother’s maiden name, and to the order of given and family names, which some countries record in an order the UAE does not use.

If you have an older translation of a related document, send that too. Consistency across a family’s file matters more than any single document being elegantly rendered.

Send with your certificate

  • The passport spelling of every name on it
  • Where the translation is going and who will receive it
  • Whether you need notarisation or an apostille
  • Whether a stamped hard copy is required
  • Any earlier translation of a related document
  • Your deadline, if the application has one

Everything you send is confidential and used only for your translation.

FAQ

Birth certificate translation questions, answered

Do I need a certified translation of my birth certificate in Dubai?

Yes, in almost every official case. A birth certificate issued in another language has to be translated before a UAE authority, university or employer will accept it, and the translation has to be certified rather than informal. For anything submitted to a court, a ministry or a government department, it must be a Ministry of Justice certified translation.

What do I need a translated birth certificate for?

Residency and family visa applications, school and university admission, passport applications for children, employment verification, marriage registration, inheritance and estate matters, and any legal proceeding where identity, age or parentage has to be proved.

How long does a birth certificate translation take?

A single birth certificate in a common language pair is typically ready in about four hours when we receive it during office hours, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Other language pairs are usually returned within 24 to 48 hours, and we confirm the timing before we start.

Do you need the original certificate, or is a scan enough?

A clear scan or photograph is enough for the translation itself. Upload it through the quote form, by email or on WhatsApp. If the receiving authority asks for a stamped hard copy, we produce one and you collect it or we courier it.

Will names be spelled the same way as in my passport?

They will if you tell us. Transliterating a name between Arabic and English has more than one valid answer, and authorities compare the translation against the passport. Send us the passport spelling with the certificate and we match it exactly, which prevents the most common cause of a document being rejected.

Does the translation need notarisation or an apostille as well?

It depends on where the document is going. Inside the UAE, a Ministry of Justice certified translation is usually enough. For use abroad, many countries also require notarisation or an apostille after translation. Tell us the destination and we will say which applies and help you arrange it.

Which languages do you translate birth certificates from?

More than 120. Arabic to English and English to Arabic are the most requested, followed by French, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, Russian, Chinese, Spanish and German. Certificates from almost any country can be handled.

How much does it cost?

A birth certificate is a short, single-page document, so it is priced at the low end of our range. The exact figure depends on the language pair and whether you need notarisation, an apostille or a hard copy. Send us a scan and you will get a fixed price rather than an estimate.

Can you translate other family certificates at the same time?

Yes, and it is usually cheaper and faster to send them together. We handle marriage, divorce and death certificates, academic records, medical reports and driving licences.

Is my document kept confidential?

Yes. A birth certificate carries personal data about you and your family, and it is treated accordingly: restricted access, secure handling and no use beyond your translation. An NDA is available on request.

Need your birth certificate translated?

Upload a scan and tell us where it is going. Send the passport spelling of the names too, and we will match them exactly.
